a) Download OUD software from Oracle Edelivery and stage it.
b) Pre-req: Install one of the supported JDKs on your system
Sun JDK version 1.6.0_24 or later or Oracle JRockit JDK R28.1.3 or later
c) Pre-req: Increase the file descriptor limit to the maximum per process. Perform the following steps:
1. Edit the /etc/security/limits.conf file and add the following lines:
* soft nofile 1024
* hard nofile 65535
2. Add the following line to the /etc/pam.d/login file:
session required /lib/security/pam_limits.so
3. Use the system file limit to increase the file descriptor limit to 65535. Set the system file
limit in the /proc/sys/fs/file-max file by running the following command:
echo 65535 > /proc/sys/fs/file-max
4. Restart your system.
d) Start the OUD 11g Installation Wizard by running
OUD Binaries/Disk1/runInstaller –jreLoc $JAVA_HOME
e) Specifying the Central Inventory on UNIX and Linux Systems.
OUI relies on the presence of a central inventory, which is a directory that contains subdirectories with information about each product installed by using OUI. If you are installing OUD on a server where you have not installed any Oracle software then the “Specify Inventory directory” dialog box will appear. Specify the inventory directory and an operating system group click OK.
f) Follow screenshots for the installation.
Specify Middleware Home and OUD Home Directory
You can generate silent installation response file by clicking on Save. A silent, or unattended, installation is an installation that does not require any user interaction.
To proceed, click on Install.
This finish the installation of OUD binaries.
g) Oracle Directory Services Manager (ODSM) is a web-based, graphical administration tool for OUD 11g. Through its graphical user interface, ODSM allows you to interact with all server parameters, view directory data, and edit directory data.
Before we can install ODSM, we need to install Weblogic Server and Oracle Application Development Framework. You can download ADF from here.
Follow screenshots for installation of WLS.
Follow screenshots for installation of ADF. The installation of ADF will basically create a folder oracle_common under the WebLogic home directory. Mention the Oracle Middleware Home as the OUD middleware home.
h) After we have installed a JDK, WebLogic Server, and Oracle ADF, we are ready to install the ODSM. To install ODSM, configure a WebLogic domain by running the Middleware Home/oracle_common/common/bin/config.sh script.
Select the Oracle Directory Services Manager check box. After you select this check box, the configuration wizard automatically selects the Oracle JRF check box.
No Optional configurations are required for ODSM.
The ODSM application will run on the WebLogic administration server, not on a separate managed server.
i) So, this concludes installation and configuration of OUD, WLS, ADF and ODSM.
j) Start the admin server by executing $DOMAIN_HOME/bin/startWeblogic.sh
k) Access Weblogic Console and ODSM.
l) In the next blog, I will cover HOWTO setup OUD Directory Server?
