This blog article describes Oracle WebLogic Server and Coherence installation 12c (12.1.3) on Linux in graphical mode.
There are few new and changed concepts in 12c as compared to 11g. Please refer here for more details.
I will cover steps for standard installation topology (see below diagram) for Oracle WebLogic Server and Coherence in one machine.
Step 1: Download Java Development Kit (I used 7u79 jdk-7u79-linux-x64.tar.gz) And Install it at desired
Oracle also provides Oracle WebLogic Server development-only and supplemental installers which can be downloaded from here. The development-only installer is a ZIP file that you simply extract to create a WebLogic Server installation. This ZIP file contains a WebLogic Server installation that includes all of the artifacts you need to develop Java applications development.
Note that you cannot apply a patch to the development-only installation; the installer does not contain OPatch. You must not use this WebLogic Server installation for production.
Step 3: Run the installer as your desired Application User. I am using orafmw user for all FMW installations. Follow the Screenshots.
If you have existing oraInventory, verify the permission you might encounter below error.
On UNIX operating systems, above screen will appear if this is the first time you are installing any Oracle product on this host. Specify the location where you want to create your central inventory. Make sure that the operating system group name selected on this screen has write permissions to the central inventory location.
Use this screen to specify the location of your Oracle home directory.
Options are Weblogic Server, Coherence, and Complete with Examples. To create the standard installation topology for WebLogic Server and Coherence, select WebLogic Server. I will cover the Coherence install in my another blog.
Wait for the prerequisite checks to complete. If there are failures, correct them and rerun the checks. Refer here for more info. If there are no failures, click the “Next” button.
Review the information.
If you want to save these options to a response file, click Save Response File and provide the location and name of the response file. Response files can be used later in a silent installation mode.
Now, Wait for Installation to Complete.
Notice the different directories created under ORACLE_HOME for WLS 12c installation. Also observer oraInst.loc is created under ORACLE_HOME. Please refer here for more details.
I will cover steps for Domain Creation/Configuration in my next article.
